A non profit organization providing a variety of programs for children, youth, and families since 1986.

The Kindergarten Program

Offered at the following locations:

Room Structure:

Our Junior Kindergarten rooms have a 1:10 teacher/child ratio.

Our Senior Kindergarten rooms have a 1:12 teacher/child ratio.

All of our environments foster courtesy, respect, responsibility and the development of confidence. In acquiring these values, the children come to understand the importance of relationships and their personal role in caring for the environment, other people and themselves.

Room Schedule:

Little girlLearning in our Kindergarten continues to develop through play. It provides children with opportunities to enjoy both teacher-initiated and child-initiated activities in large and small group settings. Our Kindergarten class is a place for talking, thinking, and hands-on learning. Children are observed reading, doing puzzles, playing with math manipulatives and writing. Other children are painting, reading from a chart story, engaged in conversation, dramatic play and other productive activities.

Our curriculum outcomes for preschool children include preparing them academically for the demands of the elementary school curriculum.

The Program

Building on the Step Ahead Program, our JK-SK curriculum is based on the specific learning opportunities and expectations outlined in the current 1998 Kindergarten Program from the Ministry of Education and Training for all children in Ontario.

We provide:

  • a low child-teacher ratio and lots of individual attention
  • teachers who are trained to plan and implement activities to encourage, guide and challenge children to experience success
  • a focus on all five areas of learning: Language, Mathematics, Science and Technology, Personal and Social Development and The Arts
  • a program designed to help children broaden their base of information, form concepts and acquire fundamental skills
  • an atmosphere that promotes a positive attitude to learning and encourages the development of abilities and talents in a wide range of areas
  • preparation for the expectations of the new elementary school curriculum
